In 1998, I nearly died from Malaria in a rural hospital on the Ivory Coast. My only comfort was a cassette of Jeff Buckley's 'Grace' album, which I played on repeat. I fell deeply in love with that album, and when I returned home, I vowed to sing a cover of a Jeff Buckley song at an open-mic night in Belfast as a thank you. A decision that changed my life.

Love/Loss
My first full album was the soundtrack to a 2010 movie starring a host of well-known British actors and actresses, including Dame Virginia McKenna, and featuring Strictly Come Dancing's Len Goodman and rising star Vanessa Kirby in her first-ever on-screen appearance. Director, Guy Daniels, had heard the song 'The only one I want' and thought it would suit the opening credits of the movie. We met in Barcelona and I convinced him to let me do the full soundtrack!

And so we look up
After I'd 'left' the music industry and got married, my wife and I decided to record one last album each, before we had kids (we assumed we'd never be able to afford it again!!). I wanted this second album to be edgier than 'Love/Loss' and showcase a different side to my music. There are some mellow moments, but on the whole, it's a 'bigger' album with a rockier feel.
Traditionally, albums are front-loaded with the hits, but I wanted to end the album with some of the best songs.
